The gubernatorial elections would be a real political battle especially in the Southern part of the country come 2023.
With just a couple of years before the gubernatorial elections, incumbent governors are doing everything possible to cover their tracks.
However, there are some Southern governors who seem to have done enough to win the people’s trust ahead of the 2023 elections in the region.
We will take a look at two Southern governors who stand a good chance to be reelected in 2023:
1. Babajide Sanwo-Olu
After earning a landslide victory over his counterpart, Jimi Agbaje, Sanwo-Olu was sworn in as the 15th Governor of Lagos State on the 29th May, 2019.

Sanwo-Olu’s tenure has been shrouded with great controversy. In fact, his underlining role during the EndSARS protest raised eyebrows as many questioned his integrity.
However, it wouldn’t be surprising if the same people who heavily criticised Sanwo-Olu go ahead to reelect him in 2023.
Sanwo-Olu hasn’t been the best governor but the political dominance of the All Progressive Congress in Lagos State would be the bedrock of his reelection come 2023.
2. Dapo Abiodun
Dapo Abiodun is considered one of the most active incumbent Southern Governors. Dapo Abiodun inherited massive abandoned projects from his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, when he took over the realm of affairs in 2019.

It wasn’t just uncompleted projects that marred the start of a bright start for Dapo Abiodun. He also had to face financial burden
In an official statement released on his birthday earlier this year, Abiodun’s secretary pointed out the incredible two-year achievements of the governor.
It was claimed that Governor Abiodun has completed a 128 projects in two Local Government Areas of the state.
If there is any iota of truth about such claim, then Governor Dapo Abiodun has reached a satisfactory milestone.

Though, the 61-year-old hasn’t declared his intention to run for reelection in 2023. However, we really don’t see anyone stopping him if he decides to do so in the nearest future.
